Brief

Plastinction is a new international research group that has recently been set up to investigate and raise awareness of the environmental impact that single-use plastic is having globally. It is focused on curbing the excessive use of plastic around the world. Single-use plastics slowly break down into smaller pieces of plastic known as ‘microplastics’ and it can take thousands of years for these plastics to decompose. These ‘microplastics’ dangerously contaminate our soil and water in the process. The research group is starting with a campaign to promote awareness and to encourage their target audience of young adults from aged 15 – 23 to boycott unnecessary use of single-use plastic. They have asked you to help them by 3 posters and 1 social action video they could use as part of the campaign.

This is one of my final posters for A2, and I chose this as an example of my work because I wanted to demonstrate how i can use a picture, edit it and create it into an intriguing poster that would make my audience want to read it. I also wanted to show the logo I made and also the fonts I used. I think that the image I used in the background of my poster was pretty good, but the layout of the text and logo could have been better.

I also think that the font was too bold and should have been changed.

Plastinction initial idea

This is the video for my initial idea for A2, I chose this because i wanted to convey my ideas clearly to the watcher, and make them see where i got my ideas from. I also wanted to demonstrate how i put some information into graphs to make it easier for my audience to understand.

Plastinction poster image

This is one of my test shots for A2, I created it by taking a picture of a plastic bag in the sand, duplicating the photo, cutting out the plastic bag from the second photo, blurring the 1st photo, and putting the unblurred plastic bag on top of the blurred one on the first picture. I decided to show this piece of work to demonstrate how I can edit a picture that could be used for a poster.

These three posters are posters that I had done initially, and I really liked the styles and graphics that i had created. I also really liked the big red bold title and kept that in my future posters. However, i did not like the amount of text that was on the posters and did not write as much on my other posters. I did however keep the fish logo and used it as the plastinction logo for my other posters.
