WW-He visualized the scenario and put himself in it to adapt to Mars' environment to solve the problem. EBI- It would be nice if you could specify how you would go about solving the problem

WWW- Good confidence and ideas in points, also explains ideas very clearly to give the watcher a good idea of what he was thinking EBI- if he rehearsed the script before to sound more fluent

Star you pointed out that there is a difference between trying to solve a problem on earth and on mars.

Improvement - You could have been more specific with how you would solve a problem if you were from Mars.

Could have been more focused on actually solving the problem.

I could have developed my answers more when talking about sustainability on mars, as I only said that it would be different from earth. good ideas about what could be done to help the planet and keep it sustainable and these should be kept for future recordings.

Need to explain why you need to solve the problem.

Maybe I should have tried to sound cleaner and more fluent because there were some parts where I forgot what I wanted to say and had to make something up, there were also parts where I stuttered.

Dear sir/ Mrs, I am writing to you today to submit an application for the position of music producer. I believe that I could be an integral part of your team, as I not only have the knowledge of music production, but also the experience. I have worked for 3 years in music composition where I worked for Activision, where I composed music for games and gained a lot of experience and knowledge from working there. This has helped me develop my passion for music further and also helped me become part of a team, and I am very grateful for this experience. I believe that I could be an asset to your team as I can explain my ideas clearly, and work fast and well on tight deadlines. I can also work well when given instructions, and help develop ideas to make them into the best product possible.

I also think that I could benefit your team by bringing in some of my own experiences and sharing the knowledge with other people. With this, we could create perfect pieces of music for Walt Disney, to the highest quality possible. Music is something I am really passionate about, and this job would help me gain even more experience and knowledge, and also help me achieve my goals in life. I hope you consider me for an interview soon

I have worked for 3 years in music composition where I worked for Activision, where I composed music for games and gained a lot of experience and knowledge from working there.

In my previous job, I was an assistant music producer for Activision. In this job, I was responsible for composing some music and checking the final music to make sure everything was fine with it. I also sometimes had to sync sounds from foley artists with the game that we were working on. Overall. I was responsible for overlooking every piece of sound associated with the project we were working on.

This has helped me develop my passion for music further and also helped me become part of a team, and I am very grateful for this experience. Research

Although the crime rate in Anaheim is decreasing, it is still higher than the average crime rate of the US.

Screenshot 2021-10-10 135735.png

Each bubble on the map represents a crime, the picture on the left shows the area around Disneyland and the picture on the right shows general crime in Anaheim. According to this, I should probably live not too far from Disneyland as the area near Disneyland has the lowest crime rate in Anaheim.  As you can see from the table under the 2 pictures, Anaheim is the city with the 10th highest crime rate in the US.

Despite this, I would still be willing to go and live in Anaheim, if it meant working for my dream job.

Pros

BA in audio production, I am planning to study to get a BA in audio production

Multi-lingual or bilingual is a plus, I can already speak 3 languages so that would already be a plus

Cons

3 years of experience in the entertainment industry

2 years in live show development for Walt Disney

Knowledge in contract negotiation

In Anaheim, never lived in the US ( 1 in 37 chance that you will be the victim of theft or violence in Anaheim)

What I think

Screenshot 2021-10-10 141401.png

I think that this would be an interesting job, as you would get to set up shows for Disneyland California. In this job, you would be creating the music for these shows. Disney is a multi-billion dollar corporation, so with this, I would expect top-of-the-range recording interfaces and midi workstations, which could be complicated to work out, so I would first need to learn about the equipment.

Questions I would like to ask or find out about the job

The first question I would ask is what type of equipment would you expect me to use?

I would also ask about what size team I would be working with, would I be on my own? with 2-3 people? or with 10+ people?

Head

I have chosen audio production because it is something that I really enjoy doing, and that I would really like to make a career out of. I have a lot of experience with different DAWs such as Logic pro, Sibelius, FL studio, Musescore and Bandlab, which means that I am very familiar with how to use them to produce music. I have various pieces of work that I have worked on for myself, and even one or two for a client. Currently, I am studying BTEC media, and in this subject, I have learnt how to write documents for videos, and I have also learnt to sync audio to video, which is also useful in the audio field. I have also learnt to work under pressure with a set time limit, where I have to produce the best work, I can in a short amount of time. On my own, I have practiced with all the DAWs that I mentioned previously and have also learnt about other DAWs that I have never tried.

Heart

What I find interesting about music production is that it gives you the opportunity to express your creative freedom. While there are boundaries when there are set instructions to follow, you are still the person in charge, and every single person who interacts with your work will hear exactly what you want them to hear. I think that this subject is not only important to me, but also to the world. Music and audio producers are responsible for all the music we listen to, all the movies and adverts we watch, all the music in games we play. I do not think that there have been any events that have guided me towards this subject, however, I think that I enjoy this subject because I have been using music technology and producing music, also playing instruments for around 10 years now, and my passion for music has never stopped growing.

Body

I have done some work experience for media when I was teaching people video editing. I have used some of the skills from media when I had to film a promotional video for a company. I have filmed and edited a video for Alpfest 2021 and also taught video editing. I have researched many different media schools that I could go to, however.

Arms and legs

I do not study music production, which means that all music production work I do is out of studies. I think this has helped me evolve and learn about the things I find interesting in music production. I have tried many different things with audio, including filters to make it sound like it is coming from a phone call or from a speaker, and I have also experimented with reverb to make songs sound like they are at a concert.

Clouds

I would like to complete audio school, and after that look for audio production jobs around France. Although I do not have a particular career path in mind, I believe that a bachelor's in audio will be beneficial to any jobs I look for relating to music. I also believe that I will find a job relating to my field as there are many radio and tv stations close to where I will live in France.

Feedback

I think I did well in this interview, but I could have developed my answers more to explain in detail what I have done. I also think that I had a good initial idea on responses but that I needed to emphasize more that all the work I did was music production.

Do's and Dont's

• Don't forget to research the company. • Do prepare questions. • Don't be late. • Do dress the part. • Don't be negative about previous employers. • Do tell the truth. • Don't be modest. • Do be memorable.

Don't:

  • Be arrogant

  • Avoid eye contact

  • Be late

  • Be too early

  • Lie

  • Dress inappropriately

  • Fidget

  • Show a lack of accountability

  • Check the time

  • Answer the phone

  • Act desperate

  • Look angry

  • Cross your arms

  • Be defensive

  • Come unprepared

  • Look bored

  • Be rude

Good, comprehensive personal statement, however, more detail could be added to make it sound even better. I really like that you explained why you are passionate about music and music technology, and I think it gives a clear idea of what you are like to perspective universities. You could talk more about extra curricular activities you have done in relation to music technology.

Interview questions

At first, my answers were too short, for example, for the first question, my answer was: guitar, and I learnt notes from it. As you can see, I have developed my answer more to make it more detailed. I have done this to all of the answers to ensure that they are interesting to listen to. Next time, I will develop projects that I have done out of school, as I have a lot to talk about with that. I could also develop answers with the orchestra I was in, as this also relates to music.

Make eye contact, looking away or down often from the interviewer comes across that you are more shy than confident.

Shouldn’t say 'I felt angry' but, in the end, did what the client liked. Instead say, I felt I could have had more input, however, we came to a compromise and mutual agreement.

Fluent and good conversation overall, was able to handle all questions well. He should elaborate more on his experience and give descriptions on his projects. Body language is seen to be visiblly nervous
He Spoke well I could understand everything, I liked what he said.

Www: kept good eye contact throughout.

Very confident answers

EBI: Kept fidgeting with hands

Feedback
Good: the answers to your questions linked to how you want to go into music production
Improve: eye contact when asked a question on the spot

WWW: I like how you related the mood of the sound to the mood of the video. I like how you mentioned the genre of the music you used, it really shows your understanding in music. I look how you took it to a personal note and talked about how
* EBI: Try and loosen up and be more confident with your answers. Also, try to speak up because we can’t hear you that well.

This was the feedback I received, and overall, I agree with it.

The index cards helped me remember what I wanted to talk about, but I didn't use them much as I sometimes talk and can't stop and read. After practicing them a few times, I finally got the hang of them and used them for my final interview.
